Level 4 NVQ in Health & Social Care (Adults)

Study Method
The programme is divided into a half day at college covering knowledge and understanding of one unit, followed by a half attendance in tutor groups and workshops, over a monthly period.
Duration
36 weeks. All students must attend a college interview and have supportive references.
Who the Course is For
The NVQ Care Level 4 is a vocational qualification, which confirms that a candidate is competent to national standards both in theory and work practice

Assessment
Candidates will need to demonstrate their understanding of the theory of Care by answering written questions, writing personal statements, reflective accounts and reports. Candidates will also be observed in the workplace by the assessor, to ensure that they meet the performance criteria.

Entry Requirements
Candidates must be in a management position at either deputy or manager level, although individual circumstances will be discussed.
An NVQ Care Level 3 would be an advantage, as this would ensure that the candidate already understands the NVQ structure.
Candidates should be employed in the Care Sector. This can be with a client group including adults, the elderly, mental health and clients with learning difficulties, and have a high leel of responsibility for service users and staff.
Content
The Level 4 programme consists of 8 units of competence, which need to be achieved in order to obtain full qualification.
