Introduction to Care


Study Method
The course workshops are run one-day a week and students are expected to attend the college for these workshops.

Duration
The programme lasts for 10 weeks, one day per week, based at Crown House, Linton Road, Barking

Who the Course is For
The course has been designed to help people considering a career working with adults in the Health & Social Care field of work.

Assessment
Students will be expected to complete some basic written assignments based upon the 5 units of competence. The tutor will also assess the student's commitment and abilities demonstrated during the course and provide a final student written report. They will receive a college certificate on successful completion.

Course Leads To
The course provides evidence towards the full NVQ Level 2 in Health & Social Care Award and will also provide useful information in gaining employment within the Health & Social Care field.

Entry Requirements
Students should have a genuine interest in working with people and have good communication skills and basic literacy.

Content
The 10 week course uses the 5 TOPSS Induction Standards, as a framework for the course workshops. Candidates will also have a workplace visit and guest speakers facilitating students learning.
