CACHE Foundation Award in Caring for Children

Study Method
There are various studying methods on this course including classroom sessions, independent study, practical and creative work. Students spend 2 weeks in a practical placement.
Duration
One Year.
Who the Course is For
The CACHE Foundation is a full-time course for 14-19 year olds who may want to pursue a career in childcare.

Assessment
The course is continually assessed throughout the year and students will produce a portfolio of five assignments and 2 assessment reports.
At the end of the year there is an externally set short answer test paper which covers everything that has been taught.
Course Leads To
Level 2 programmes in childcare or health and social care.

Entry Requirements
All candidates must be interviewed by the Course tutor.
Places for the under 16's are allocated through schools only.
An interest and concern for young children is essential.
Content
Students will attend 2 days per week at college, at present scheduled for a Wednesday & Thursday.
2 week work experience in the Spring Term.
The programme includes: play, child development, health and safety, childhood health issues, diet and nutrition and citizenship.
