BTEC Introductory Diploma in Health & Social Care (Level 1)


Study Method
There are various methods of study on this course that include classroom sessions, project work, discussion groups, practical work experience placements and visits.

One-year course


Who the Course is For
Applications are welcomed from those who are considering careers working with children, the elderly or disabled and students should be aged between 16 and 18 years of age.

It is an initial qualification to lead you into following a career in the caring services.
Assessment
You will produce a portfolio of work that is assessed by a range of methods, which may include projects, assignments, case studies and coursework.

Course Leads To

This qualification will help you to go onto a higher level qualification such as the BTEC First Diploma in Caring or the CACHE Certificate, or you can go into work. It can prepare you for a range of jobs in the public and private sesctors including day care assistants, health care assistant and residential care assistants. A BTEC Introductory Diploma is equivalent to four GCSEs grade D-G.


Entry Requirements

There are no formal entry requirements required. However, applicants are expected to have good written and spoken English.

Prospective students are required to take an English test.

You will study 3 core units:

Unit 1 - Starting work in health and social care
Unit 2 - Working in health and social care
Unit 3 - Developing skills in health and social care

And 5 other units:

Unit 4 - Personal effectiveness
Unit 6 - Financial management
Unit 7 - Looking after children
Unit 8 - Images of people
Unit 10 - Exploring local services
