BTEC First Diploma in Care


Study Method
There are various methods of study on this course that include classroom sessions, project work, discussion groups, practical work experience placements and visits.



Duration
One-year course full-time programme.



Who the Course is For
Applications are welcomed from those who are considering careers working with children, the elderly or disabled. It is an initial qualification to lead you into following a career in the caring services.
Assessment
You will produce a portfolio of work that is assessed by a range of methods, which may include projects, assignments, case studies and coursework.
    Students are allocated a personal course tutor who will provide support and guidance at regular intervals during the course.

Course Leads To
This qualification can help you to go onto a higher-level qualification such as the BTEC National in Care, CACHE Diploma in Childcare, A Levels or straight into work. It can prepare you for a range of jobs in the public and private sectors including day care assistants, health care assistant and residential care assistants.

Entry Requirements
You are required to have a minimum of four GCSEs at grades D-G. Applicants are expected to have good written and spoken Englissh. Prospective students are required to take an English test.

You need to be at least 16-18 years of age.

Content
You would study 3 core units:

Unit 1 - Values and interpersonal skills
Unit 2 - Lifespan development and care needs
Unit 3 - Care practise foundation

And 3 specialist units:

Unit 4 - Values and commications in care settings
Unit 6 - Service user support
Unit 7 - The caring environment
